Descripción
Fibroblast growth factor-6 (FGF-6) is a cytokine belonging to the heparin-binding members of the FGF family. Members of this family exhibit broad mitogenic and cell survival activities and are involved in various biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth, and invasion. FGF-6 binds to and signals through the FGF receptors FGFR1 and FGFR4. It is also essential for normal muscle regeneration. In vivo, high concentrations of recombinant FGF-6 upregulate FGFR1 and downregulate FGFR4, respectively, as FGFR1 promotes proliferation while FGFR4 promotes muscle differentiation. Transfection of the FGF6 gene into mammalian cells has been shown to possess oncogenic transformation activity. Although FGF-6 serves a protective function against mechanical muscle injury, it is overexpressed in the developing heart and regulates osteoblasts and osteoclasts during bone remodeling.

Reconstitution Instructions |
Centrifuge the tube before opening to collect the contents at the bottom. Reconstitute with ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1–0.5 mg/mL. The solution can be further diluted according to subsequent experimental requirements. |
Storage
Store at -25 to -15°C. Valid for 1 year from receipt. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days, or at -85 to -65°C for up to 3 months. To avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting the protein upon first use.
