Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) is a member of the Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) family and serves as a growth factor and signaling protein encoded by the FGF2 gene. FGF family members exhibit broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, participating in diverse biological processes including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, as well as tumor growth and invasion. In normal tissues, bFGF is present in the basement membrane and the sub-endothelial extracellular matrix. bFGF stimulates and regulates the proliferation and differentiation of various mesoderm- and neuroectoderm-derived cells, such as vascular endothelial cells, epithelial cells, myoblasts, osteoblasts, and glial cells, playing a vital role in embryonic development and tissue healing. Furthermore, bFGF (FGF-2) is an essential component in all embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell culture media for maintaining pluripotency.

Reconstitution Instructions

It is recommended to reconstitute Human bFGF in sterile distilled water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles whenever possible.
