Description
Galectin-12 (Gal-12) is a member of the galectin family and belongs to the tandem-repeat-type galectins. Its single polypeptide chain contains two carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs) connected by a linker region. The CRDs are responsible for β-galactoside binding and are required for interaction with the VPS13C protein. Galectin-12 has been reported to be present in adipose tissue, but it is also expressed in macrophages and other leukocytes. It is involved in various biological activities, including cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and cell differentiation. Furthermore, galectin-12 has emerged as a key driver of macrophage M1 polarization, thereby promoting inflammation and reducing insulin sensitivity in adipocytes.

Reconstitution Instructions |
Briefly centrifuge the vial at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized powder with sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/mL, and let it stand for at least 20 minutes to ensure complete dissolution. The reconstituted solution can be further diluted and aliquoted. When performing further dilution and aliquoting, a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA) must be added. For serum-free experimental requirements, a 5% trehalose solution can be used as an alternative carrier. |
Storage
Store at -25 to -15°C. Valid for 1 year from receipt. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days, or at -85 to -65°C for up to 3 months. To avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting the protein upon first use.
