Description
Galectin-4 (Gal-4), a member of the galectin family, is a tandem-repeat-type galectin featuring two carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs) on a single polypeptide chain, connected by a linker region. These CRDs are responsible for binding β-galactosides. Several binding partners for Gal-4 have been identified, including human blood group antigens, glycoproteins, the mucin-like membrane protein MUC1, glycosphingolipids, and sulfated cholesterol. Gal-4 is constitutively expressed in the intestine and stomach, uterine epithelial cells, vascular walls, as well as hippocampal and cortical neurons. It plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including lipid raft stabilization, apical protein transport, cell adhesion, wound healing, intestinal inflammation, and host defense.

Reconstitution Instructions |
1)Briefly centrifuge the vial at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes before opening. 2)It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized powder with sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/mL, and let it stand for at least 20 minutes to ensure complete dissolution. 3)The reconstituted solution can be further diluted and aliquoted. When performing further dilution and aliquoting, a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA) must be added. For serum-free experimental requirements, a 5% trehalose solution can be used as an alternative carrier. |
Storage
Store at -25 to -15°C. Valid for 1 year from receipt. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days, or at -85 to -65°C for up to 3 months. To avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting the protein upon first use.
