Beskrivelse
Transmembrane protein 27 (TMEM27/collectrin), a glycoprotein and homolog of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), is a regulator of renal amino acid uptake in the proximal tubule and may have a protective role in hypertension. Mature human Collectrin consists of a 127 amino acid (aa) extracellular domain (ECD), a 21 aa transmembrane segment, and a 60 aa cytoplasmic domain. Collectrin is highly expressed in the proximal convoluted tubules of the renal collector and inhibits the proliferation of tubular epithelial cells.
