Beschrijving
Galectin-16 (Gal-16) is a member of the galectin family and one of the prototype galectins; however, it exists as a monomer and exhibits significant differences from other prototype galectins in β-galactoside binding. Like galectin-13 and galectin-14, galectin-16 is expressed in the placenta, where it participates in T-cell apoptosis, immune regulation, and immune tolerance, making it essential for fetal development. The molecular mechanism by which galectin-16 forms a complex with c-Rel has been elucidated, suggesting that galectin-16 activates signal transduction pathways via the c-Rel hub in B cells or T cells at the maternal-fetal interface.

Reconstitution Instructions |
Briefly centrifuge the vial at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized powder with sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/mL, and let it stand for at least 20 minutes to ensure complete dissolution. The reconstituted solution can be further diluted and aliquoted. When performing further dilution and aliquoting, a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA) must be added. For serum-free experimental requirements, a 5% trehalose solution can be used as an alternative carrier. |
Storage
Store at -25 to -15°C. Valid for 1 year from receipt. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days, or at -85 to -65°C for up to 3 months. To avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting the protein upon first use.
