Description

Galectin-7 (Gal-7), a member of the galectin family, is one of the prototype galectins. It contains a single carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) responsible for binding β-galactosides, and exists as a homodimer to exert its biological activity. Gal-7 is constitutively expressed in the gastrointestinal tract, stratified epithelia, skin, and fetal heart. It has been reported to act as an effector in p53 pathway activation, thereby inducing apoptosis. Furthermore, Gal-7 plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and differentiation.

Lyophilized Powder

Biological activity

Measure by its ability to chemoattract human THP1 cells. Chemotactic activity was observed at a concentration of 0.5 μg/mL.

Reconstitution Instructions

1)Briefly centrifuge the vial at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes before opening.

2)It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized powder with sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/mL, and let it stand for at least 20 minutes to ensure complete dissolution.

3)The reconstituted solution can be further diluted and aliquoted. When performing further dilution and aliquoting, a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 10% FBS, or 5% HSA) must be added. For serum-free experimental requirements, a 5% trehalose solution can be used as an alternative carrier.

Storage

Store at -25 to -15°C. Valid for 1 year from receipt. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days, or at -85 to -65°C for up to 3 months. To avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, we recommend aliquoting the protein upon first use.
