Description

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is an immunomodulatory protein and a member of the interferon family. Primarily produced by activated T cells, NK cells, and certain lymphocyte subsets, IFN-γ is a cytokine with diverse biological functions. It plays a critical regulatory role in immune responses by enhancing the cytotoxic capacity of macrophages and dendritic cells, promoting their release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and regulating the expression of antigen-presenting molecules, thereby strengthening cellular immune responses. Furthermore, IFN-γ regulates T cell differentiation and function, promotes Th1 cell development, enhances B cell class switching to IgG, and maintains the balance between cellular and humoral immunity.
