Description
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays a critical role in host defense by modulating immune and inflammatory responses. Produced by T cells, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and keratinocytes, IL-6 exerts diverse biological functions. It stimulates B-cell differentiation and antibody production, synergizes with IL-3 in megakaryocyte development and platelet production, induces the expression of hepatic acute-phase proteins, and regulates bone metabolism. Signaling is transduced through the IL-6 receptor system, which comprises two chains: IL-6Rα and gp130. This product is recombinant human IL-6 supplied as a lyophilized powder with high activity, high purity, and low endotoxin.

Biological Activity |
The ED₅₀ as determined by a cell proliferation assay using human TF-1 cells is 0.1–0.8 ng/mL. |
|
Reconstitution |
Centrifuge the vial before opening to bring contents to the bottom. Reconstitute with sterile distilled water or PBS to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL, and dilute further as needed for subsequent experiments. For long-term storage, a carrier protein (0.1% BSA) is recommended in the dilution buffer. Aliquot into single-use volumes and store at –80°C; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |
Features
High purity, high activity, low endotoxin, high batch-to-batch consistency
