Firefly luciferase is a protein with a molecular weight of approximately 61 kDa. In the presence of ATP, magnesium ions, and oxygen, it catalyzes the oxidation of luciferin to oxyluciferin. During the oxidation of luciferin, bioluminescence at a wavelength of approximately 560 nm is emitted, which can be measured using a luminometer.
The Firefly Glo Luciferase Reporter Gene Assay Kit is a glow-type firefly luciferase reporter gene assay kit featuring high sensitivity and stable luminescence signal, which can meet the requirements of high-throughput detection of luciferase expression in mammalian cells.
Compared with the flash-type Firefly Luciferase Reporter Gene Assay Kit (Cat#.11401), this product has the following advantages: 1) More stable luminescence signal, providing greater flexibility for experimental design. 2) Adopting an add-mix-read operation method, no need for auto-injectors, and no need to discard culture medium, centrifuge, or perform other steps, greatly simplifying the experimental workflow. 3) No obvious irritating odor.
This kit is compatible with various commonly used cell culture media: RPMI 1640, DMEM, MEM-alpha, F12, DMEM/F12, etc., with a half-life of approximately 2 hours (22°C), meeting the needs of most high-throughput experiments.
