Upon addition of RNAsafe-ICE solution, the tissue transforms from a hard frozen state to a soft state; at this point, the solution permeates the tissue and inactivates RNases. After treatment with RNAsafe-ICE solution, tissues can be handled at room temperature without worrying about RNA degradation. Furthermore, samples can be safely weighed, further dissected, or subjected to various experiments without affecting RNA quality.
